Which version of Ghost? If you are talking 8.0 corporate or at least a version of Ghost that has the Ghost32.exe executable I can point you in a direction that you can set up a bootable CD with a version of XP (yes, running XP from a CD) that you can then run Ghost from. The issue you are going to have with USB keys is that the only systems I know will boot from the things right now is Dell, and that is because they are on a crusade to kill the floppy. I don't know of any other system BIOS' that will boot from a USB key (and believe me, I have looked). I formated my JumpDrive 128MB under Windows 98SE, bootable of course.
Copied ghost.exe over with a mouse driver. Boots fine on my boxes (AOpen 865 mobo and Shuttle SB51).
I just set it up to boot USB floppy. Works everytime. That is if the BIOS supports it. View image here: -My other favorite option is a bootable minicd. Toss on it the basics like Partition Magic, F-Prot AntiVirus and Ghost. I'm going to try some bootable minidvds (like from the Sony DVD camcorder) since most of the systems I work with have DVDROM drives. Toss on the whole two CD Slackware install or Windows XP install.

Ghost 2002 runs from DOS - all you need is the GHOSTPE.EXE in any drive path accessible from the DOS prompt i.e. You certainly don't need to be running the special Norton PC-DOS environment. My suggestion:1) Download a Win98 bootdisk floppy imagefrom2) Download a DOS driver for your USB memory stick (could be tricky, this bit).3) Use Winimage to extract and edit the CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT on that 98 boot image to include the USB stick drivers in the boot sequence. Now you have a bootable floppy image that should mount the USB stick, as well as the CD drivers, if required.4) Incorporate the bootable floppy image into your bootable USB memory stick - this is the bit I'm really not clear on, but surely to Christ somebody has solved this problem by now.All you need now is GHOSTPE.EXE on the memory stick.
The stick boots from the floppy image, mounts itself as a drive and GHOSTPE.EXE is accessible from the DOS prompt. This method works just fine from a CDR:- Provided that some DOS driver exists for the memory stick, I can't see any reason why it shouldn't work there either. I'll be very interested to see how this thread goes.
Using Ghost to Image a Windows PCNB This applies to Windows95/98/ME/2000 & XPIMPORTANT: Make sure you are licensed to produce imaged copies of your version of windows.1. Set the Master PCLaptop up from its manufacturers rescue disks or the copy of windows that you wish to use.2.
Ensure that you apply all the latest service packs for your version of windows. Go to to see if you need to install anything.3. Install and configure all the applications you would like on the image, and remember applications need service-packing too for MS Office updates go to and run the office update wizard.
Don’t forget things like Adobe Acrobat reader and WinZip (This is a licensed product so ensure you have the rights to do this)4. If you have not serviced packed you internet explorer (in step 2) do this now.5.
If you use a proxy server and/or wish to have ALL the imaged PC’s preconfigured to use this do the following, Open a MMC Console (Start - Run - MMC - ENTER) Add the group policy snap in. Configure the home page as then configure the proxy as Your Proxy IP address (Look in User ConfigurationWindows SettingsInternet Explorer Maint)6. Kadi roya karenga naseebo lal video download. (Unless you want to clone your rubbish: 0)11. Now if you meet any of the following criteria go to step 18.You are imaging Windows 95/98/MEYou are imaging Windows 2000 or Windows XP that will NOT be on a network (i.e., it’s a standalone or your home PC)12. Download the latest version of sysprep for your operating systemWindows 2000 version 1.1Windows XP version 2.0 (it’s in the deployment cab)14. You now need to create a directory called c:sysprep and do the followingWindows 2000Extract the file you downloaded to the c:sysprep directory.Look on the windows 2000 CD for the following d:supporttools and there should be a file there called “deploy.cab”, Extract this to your C: sysprep directory.Copy all the files from C: syspreptools to the C: sysprep folder click YES when you are asked to overwrite the originals.Windows XPExtract the file you downloaded earlier to the C: sysprep directory.15. In your sysprep directory you will now have a program called setupmgr double click it to run it, answer all the questions and it will create another file that will hold the answers to all the questions windows usually asks you when you install it. REMEMBER to tell it you ate IMAGING or it won’t work.16.
Close all your open windows and click Start Run c:sysprepsysprep.exe -pnp The machine will then give you a warning message and close down, DON’T power it back up unless you want to test it (note if you do and your windows 2000 you’ll have to carry out all from step 13 again)17. Before cloning your Hard Drive, ensure you have another hard drive (That Big enough to hold the image fitted to the machine being ghosted. (You cannot ghost to the same Hard Drive!) – NEWER versions of ghost can) this procedure was tested with v6.5 and v7.018.
Arm yourself with a bootdisk from (Ensure it had RAMDRIVE on it and it works!) And a copy of Ghost.exe from Symantec19. Boot with your bootdisk20. Type ghost then return. (This will create one big image if you want to split the image up, to fit on CDROM’s type “ghost.exe -split=600 –auto”) for DVD's change the 600 to the Mb size you require for the DVD's21. At the welcome screen press enter to clear the message.22. Using the Cursor Keys select Local, Disk, To Image then return.23.
At the select local source press enter24. At the file name to copy to screen, Use the Tab Keys to navigate to the image location your second Hard Drive.25.

At the proceed screen Tab to 'Yes' then press return.29. When it is completed it should say, 'Dump completed successfully'30.
If you’re deploying from CDROM you can now burn the image “portions” to CDROM. Ensure the first disk is bootable and has a copy of ghost on it to restore the image to a new computer.Links.How To Create A Bootable Ghost Rescue CD Tutorial.
Norton Ghost is a tool for creating backups of your entire hard-drive that can be recovered any time, for example in the case of moving to a new system or a hardware failure. Backups can include either single files and folders, or entire partitions or drives. Norton Ghost offers incremental and differential backups that can be scheduled to run on a regular basis, e.g. At every system start or on an hourly/daily/weekly basis. Besides hard-drives and disks (CD/DVD/Blue Ray), Norton Ghost also supports Iomega Zip and Jaz, NAS, FTP, network drives and other local and remote storage. Encryption, compression, integration of Google Desktop Search and remote management are additional features that make Norton Ghost a powerful and safe backup software. Hey guys,I've got an older version of Norton Ghost that I'd like to use, but I have to use it from DOS (I'm running XPsp1). Problem is, I don't have a floppy drive. So I attempted to make a bootable CD-Rom by copying my win98 boot disk (using my laptop) to my USB flash drive and then (on my PC) using the flashdrive as the source file for Nero to make a bootable CD-Rom.
This doesn't work because when I boot, I get the Nero boot disk message followed by Invalid system disk. I also tried 'Bart's method' from the linkage on bootdisk.com and that was too difficult for me to follow. So I'm confused and the intricacies of why a CD-Rom won't just boot like a normal floppy are quite beyond me at this point. Perhaps there is a much simpler method that has escaped me. Using that image file with my version of Nero (5.5) gives me the error message, 'invalid handle' 'i/o error, using image file'When I set up the boot disk in Nero, I'm assuming I should select 'image file' and not 'bootable logical drive' since the file I downloaded is an image file. However, Nero is looking for a 'boot image file' with a.ima extension.
In the window where you would type the name for the image file it gives you c:/image.img as the default but when you click browse, it says it's looking for a.ima file. I tried renaming the file I downloaded with a.ima extension, but no help got the same error message.
I also tried renaming the file to image.img and putting that at C:, that worked once in simulation and then when I went to burn it I got the same error message as before. Is my version of Nero too old? That doesn't seem likely but I suppose bootable CD-Roms are relatively new concept (?) that my version may not fully support.Searchy, in the past when I had a floppy drive I had used this version of Ghost, so it should work once this boot disk is figured out.
